Mission

We aim to enhance academic and social skills of students at risk. Learning and leadership opportunities are provided through mentoring.

History

Youth With Purpose (YWP) was launched at High Point High School on November 8, 2005. In 2008, Youth With Purpose, Inc. was established as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit public charity to solicit and receive charitable contributions. For ten years now, we have impacted the lives of 300 students at High Point High School. Our major successes include providing a pathway to high school graduation and college entrance for first generation college students. Several YWP scholars have received full rides to Pepperdine University, University of Maryland, Baltimore County, University of Michigan, School of Medicine, and the University of Virginia.

Goals

Youth With Purpose views access to mentorship, tutoring and civic engagement as a bridge to high school completion and college entrance.  YWP has and will continue to improve the lives of students at risk in the public school system. When students are given opportunities beyond the classroom, their chances of success when they leave high school are improved. YWP gives our scholars the opportunity to achieve their dreams of graduating from high school and attending college.

Our 2015-2016 academic year goals include:

  • Improve graduation and retention rates.

  • Improve self-esteem by addressing issues of violence, lack of empowerment and cultural awareness.

  • Expand civic and academic opportunities.

  • Provide mentorship in order to improve leadership and etiquette skills.
